 Good Service is NOT CHEAP

Unfortunately, as with any good quality service, the price for excellent technicians is not going down. To get good on-site service, the going rate is between $125.00 and $250.00 per hour. Depot repair prices are slightly lower – around $85.00 per hour. I cannot stress enough, however, the importance finding a good, reliable service source for your hardware and network maintenance. Most large companies will allocate between $800.00 and $1000.00 per year, per computer in their budget for network service costs. Of course people hope that they won’t need to spend all of that, but you must be prepared to pay for service in this age of constant communication and computing.

Everyone wants a guarantee these days. The age-old problem is that there are none. Computers break, hard drives die, networks fail. Like a good auto repair shop, a good shrink, a good plumber, what you really need these days is a recommendation for a good, reliable service organization that will give you straight answers and excellent service. There doesn’t seem to be a magic bullet for this problem, because what really matters in the end is WHO IS STANDING BEFORE YOU WITH A SCREWDRIVER IN THEIR HAND!!! Who is taking your data, your thesis, your business plan or your database, and cracking it open to operate? Get some references from the people you want to use for service, ask to speak to some of their customers about how they handle repairs. This is most important if you have someone coming to service your business network.
